The ATI Group shared some preliminary design concepts for their plans for the former Crossroads Mall area in Waterloo, according to KWWL. ATI plans to turn the area into what they call a modern outdoor shopping and entertainment hub. They are planning for restaurants, entertainment venues, retail spaces, and community gathering areas to be included. Demolition of the mall began last month on the once bustling landmark that had turned into an empty shell of itself. Some community members inquired about the possibility of reusing parts of the mall. ATI says they looked into that with all of the large box store locations but ran into issues with all of them. More details on the new development will be released in the future. The project is expected to be completed in five to eight years.
