Plea Deal for Deadly Robbery

One of the people involved in the robbery of an apartment in downtown Cedar Falls that left one man dead has agreed to a plea deal, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 23 year old James Wright-Buls pleaded guilty to charges of first degree Robbery and Conspiracy in exchange for Murder charges to be dropped. Wright-Buls was one of three men that entered the apartment where 24 year old Grant Saul was staying on December 4, 2019. Keyon Roby was armed with a pistol and shot Saul in the chest when Saul allegedly reached for a gun. Wright-Buls then hid the gun in some bushes outside a home. That gun was later recovered during the investigation of an unrelated shooting. Wright-Buls faces 25 years in prison and must serve 15 years before becoming eligible for parole. Roby was convicted of first degree Murder and faces life in prison. 23 year old Marquas Gafeney pleaded to the same charges of Wright-Buls and was sentenced to 25 years but must serve 13 before being paroled. 22 year old McKayla Ryan has been identified as the one who drove the others to the apartment. She is awaiting trial on robbery charges.
