Plea Deal for Robbery

A Waterloo woman has taken a plea deal for her role in a case in which a man was robbed of $25, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 36 year old Carrie Bender was originally charged with second degree Robbery but as part of a plea deal she plead to a lesser charge of first degree Theft. Bender and Tywan Robinson approached a man on June 25, 2020. Robinson pointed a BB gun at the man and demanded his money. The man handed over $25. Once the two assailants left, the man called the police. The police tracked Bender and Robinson down. They found the BB gun and Bender had the cash on her. Robinson pleaded to first degree Theft in September of 2020 and was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison. Bender has been sentenced to two to five years of probation for the same charge.
