Plea Deal Taken in Deadly Robbery

The last person involved in a robbery in downtown Cedar Falls in 2019 that turned deadly has taken a plea deal, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 24 year old McKayla Ryan entered Alford pleas to Conspiracy to Commit Robbery, second degree Burglary, and Conspiracy to Commit Theft. In exchange a charge of first degree Robbery will be dismissed. Ryan will be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison but there will not be a mandatory minimum before she is eligible for parole. Ryan helped three others to rob an apartment above businesses on Main Street on the night of December 4, 2019. During the robbery, one of the victims, 24 year old Grant Saul, reached for a gun and was shot and killed by Keyon Roby. Roby was 18 at the time. He was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Ryan helped acquire the gun used. James Wright-Buls and Marquas Gafeney both pleaded to Robbery and Conspiracy and were sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
