A popular downtown Waterloo restaurant has closed its doors for the time being due to what it calls “ongoing equipment and staffing issues,” according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Newton’s Paradise Cafe began turning people away at around 2pm on Friday. The restaurant has dealt with a number of equipment issues including a malfunctioning cooler and a burnt out blower motor in its exhaust hood. They also say they have had trouble finding back of house workers for evenings and weekends. For that reason, they scaled back their hours of operation last week to help keep staff from overexerting themselves. The sign on the door says they will remain closed until further notice.
