A postal carrier in Waterloo is being credited with preventing what could have been a much more damaging fire at an apartment complex, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The postal carrier noticed the fire in an outdoor outlet near the front entrance of the complex at 1642 E. Mitchell Avenue and called for help. Crews were able to extinguish the flames before they could spread to the rest of the building and damage was isolated to the immediate area around the socket. No injuries were reported. The postal carrier’s name has not been made public.
