Pretend Police Officer Hotel Burglary

A Waterloo man has been arrested for allegedly burglarizing a hotel room while pretending to be a police officer last September, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Police say that 36 year old Ted Scott Jr. went to room 226 at the Econo Lodge on September 14th at around 7:45 p.m. He knocked on the door while allegedly announcing “Waterloo Police.” He allegedly forced the door open with his shoulder and struggled with the woman inside before taking her phone and $1,200 in cash. Scott has been charged with second degree Burglary, fourth degree Criminal Mischief, and Impersonating a Public Official.
