Prison After Drug and Guns Arrest

A Waterloo man has been sent to prison after being convicted of being a drug user in possession of firearms. 33 year old Jeffrey Myers had been in prison on drug charges which included possession of marijuana, mushrooms, and meth. He was released in June of 2019 but that is when the gun charge, which had been pending since a grand jury charge in July of 2017, was handed down. That charge actually stems from a traffic stop in Charles City in 2016. Police found a rifle and 3 handguns in the back seat of the car Myers was driving in addition to 6 more firearms in the trunk including one with a 100 round drum magazine and bag of ammo. Myers was also found to be in possession of $1,000 cash. He was labeled a danger to the community by Magistrate Mark Roberts.
