A Charles City man who beat his child and his child’s mother on Christmas Eve has been sentenced to probation, according to KIMT. 42 year old Joseph Hill has taken a plea deal in which he will plead guilty to Domestic Abuse Assault after initially being charged with first degree Burglary, Domestic Assault- Strangulation, and two counts of Child Endangerment. Hill got into a physical fight with the mother of his child on Christmas Eve. When the child tried to step in to stop the fight, Hill repeatedly punched them in the head and arm. As the woman and the child were leaving, Hill reached into the car and grabbed the woman by the neck, hard enough to impair normal breathing and left behind marks. Hill has been sentenced to two years of supervised probation, ordered to complete the Iowa Domestic Abuse Program, and pay a fine of $430.
