A Waterloo woman has been sentenced to probation for setting a senior living center on fire in October, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 33 year old Kiya Marovec was staying at the Camelot Apartments, typically reserved for seniors. It is still unclear why she was allowed to stay there. She claimed she was having mental issues at the time and mixed up fantasy and reality and set the fire. She pleaded guilty to second degree Arson as part of a plea deal. She was sentenced to up to 10 years in prison, suspended to five years of probation to be served at the Women’s Center for Change. She will, however, be held in the jail until space opens up at the center.
