Protests following the death of George Floyd in police custody in Minneapolis continued over the weekend across the globe. Several protests turned violent including in Des Moines where many businesses along Court Avenue, a popular shopping and dining district, were damaged and a curfew was put in place beginning at 9:00 Sunday night. Many other protests remained peaceful including early this morning in Waterloo as around 50 protesters gathered outside the Police Department and Black Hawk County Courthouse, according to KWWL. Some protests have seen powerful scenes as police have shown their solidarity with the message of the protesters. Demonstrations are expected to continue around the world.
