Public Works Addresses “Forever Chemicals” in Well

Levels of PFAS’s known as “forever chemicals” in Waverly’s east well have measured over the allowable amount of 4 parts per trillion.

Public Works director Justin McGlaun explains the levels the chemicals were measured at.

There are 750,000 gallons of water in the east tower.

The next test will be done some time after July 1st. If the levels of PFAS’s don’t decrease as this process continues the city may have to find another well. There is a minimum of 60% refundable grants that help cities remedy their “forever chemical” situations.
