Quarterly Economic Indicators for Bremer Co

Bremer County’s Quarterly Economic Indicators were recently released. Unemployment was measured at 3.1%, down from 3.8% a year ago. There was just one bankruptcy in Bremer County in the first quarter, compared to nine in the same time period last year. Electric, water, and gas connections were all up this year compared to last year. There was also roughly 500 more vehicle registrations this year than last year. Residential real estate was not as good for the first quarter as it was in last year’s first quarter. There were 16 fewer sales, 41 down from 57, and those units spent more time on the market, 48 days up from 38 days. Prices were up, however. The median sales price on those residential sales was $240,000, $40,000 more than last year. There was more than double the single family home construction this year, 17 up from 8, which created more than $2million in value.
