The Iowa Section of the American Water Works Association has named Readlyn’s Barney Wiersma the Region 1 Operator of the Year. They say that with 25 years of experience, Wiersma has not only sustained a high-performing system but has also invested in mentoring and preparing the next generation of operators. The association says Wiersma stood out for his resourcefulness in developing innovative, cost-effective solutions, including partnerships with neighboring communities to share equipment and reduce financial burdens.
