The National Transportation Safety Board has released their report on a fatal crop dusting crash near Nashua in July, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. The pilot of the helicopter, 36 year old Eleazar Villafranca Jr. of Bayview, Texas, was killed in the crash on July 29th. The NTSB says a coworker of Villafranca’s who had flown the same route reported that there were powerlines that were initially hidden by a hill and then blended in with the fields behind them making them “practically invisible”. Investigators found that the powerlines had been severed by wire strike cutters affixed to the helicopter. No official cause of the crash has been released, that will be done in a second report. A gofundme was set up to help Villafranca’s family with his funeral expenses. At the time of writing the gofundme has raised more than $11,000 of a $20,000 goal.
