Resolution to Expedite Griffin Removal

Waterloo Council member Pat Morrissey has indicated that he will introduce a resolution to expedite the removal of the griffin logo from Waterloo Police uniforms, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. Morrissey says his resolution will require the patch be removed from all uniforms by September 30th. He noted that the griffin logo was retired nearly a year ago and a new one was adopted back in May but the police uniforms have not changed. Fellow council member Margaret Klein called Morrissey’s resolution “an act of cruelty” toward the police. She also argued that the griffin logo was identical to one used by Morrissey’s bagpipe band, Cedar Glen Pipes and Drums, to which Morrissey vehemently disagreed.
