Governor Kim Reynolds announced at 11:00 Wednesday that the 22 counties that have been closed will open on Friday, May 15th. All the business categories allowed to open in the 77 counties that were opened earlier can now be open state-wide. In addition to this the governor will allow salons, barbers and message therapy business to open with restrictions outlined by the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Governor Reynolds said that the state is using a three fold approach to COVID-19 called Stabilize, Recover and Grow. She said the stabilize phase was a success citing that hospitals and medical resources did not get overwhelmed. She said we are now in the Recover stage as the economy is being opened piece by piece. Today she highlighted how a gym in Ankeny is doing their reopening.
