Reward Grows in 218 Shooting Mystery

The reward for information in the case of a UNI Softball player shot to death on Highway 218 has now grown to $24,000. A Waterloo business owner, who asked to stay anonymous pledged $10,000 and has also challenged other business owners to pitch in as well, according to Waterloo Police Chief Dan Trelka. Micalla Rettinger was shot through the neck near the bridges over Brinker Lake and the Cedar River early Sunday morning. The bullet also struck Rettinger’s boyfriend and Waverly native, Adam Kimball. He is now out of the hospital and recovering from his wounds.
