Reward Offered in Case of Woman Slain on 218

A $7,000 reward is now being offered in the case of a former UNI softball player shot to death on Highway 218, according to KWWL. The shooting still remains a mystery to police as 25 year old Micalla “KK” Rettinger was shot through the neck as she drove home from work around 2:30 Sunday morning. The same bullet that hit Rettinger also struck her front seat passenger, 32 year old Adam Kimball. He is being treated at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. A passenger in the backseat was unharmed in the shooting. They told police that the trio was returning home from work and there had been no confrontation either with another motorist or at their place of work and that traffic was light at that time. The bullet entered the vehicle as they were crossing the bridges over Brinker Lake and the Cedar River. That area is heavily wooded. Its unclear at this point what caliber of weapon was used and from how far away it was fired. If you have any information in the case you are asked to contact the Waterloo Police Department or Cedar Valley Crime Stoppers.
