Rising River Levels in CF

From the city of Cedar Falls:

As our area continues to experience rainfall this summer, the City of Cedar Falls reminds the community to be prepared for severe weather emergencies by signing up for flood notifications at bit.ly/cfnotify and selecting ‘Flood Announcements’.

Flood information can be found on the City’s webpage at www.cedarfalls.com/812/Flood-Information. The webpage provides a link to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) hydrograph on the current Cedar River level at Cedar Falls, crest predictions, and information on impacted areas. The graph and NOAA’s official forecast can also be viewed directly at water.noaa.gov/gauges/CEDI4

A brochure is available online at www.cedarfalls.com/812/Flood-Information which includes what to do to prepare for floods and streets that may be affected. These can also be picked up in the City Hall lobby (220 Clay Street).

Rising River Level

According to NOAA, the Cedar River at Cedar Falls is currently expected to crest at 92.50 feet at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, 2025*. At this level, water affects the southeast corner of Gateway Park and portions of Lake Street, as well as the north parking lot of Island Park. Water also affects Riverside Drive south of Beech Street, the north half of Tourist Park, portions of Cottage Row Road, and the bike path at George Wyth Park.

Cedar Falls Public Safety reminds residents to stay away from floodwater and never drive through a flooded roadway. Weather conditions are subject to change, which impacts road and parking closures, so please be aware and abide by City posted signs and barriers in relation to these closures for your safety, especially if attending the Sturgis Falls celebration this weekend.

City staff will continue to monitor the river levels and provide press releases as needed.
