Runoff Needed in CF Election

A council seat in Cedar Falls will have to wait to be filled until a runoff next month after none of the five candidates reached the threshold to secure the spot, according to KWWL. The city council position was left vacant when Rob Green was elected mayor. Nick Taiber, a former councilman was appointed to the spot but citizens forced through a special election. LeaAnn Saul came the closest to getting the seat with nearly 35% of the vote. Kelly Dunn was second with just over 28%. Those two will compete in the runoff to be held on August 4th. The race for the council spot has been contentious following Cedar Falls decision to switch to a Public Safety Office Program and eliminate the position of career firefighters.
