A former community leader in Waterloo who has been convicted of grooming and sexually abusing several children has been sentenced in one of the cases against him, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 44 year old Jamodd Sallis was sentenced to time served for Lascivious Counduct With a Minor. Sallis used his position as a community leader to help the family and gain the trust of the 15 year old girl. In 2019 when he and the girl were alone in his bedroom he had her take her clothes off and then he showed her his genitals. He is currently serving 15 years in prison for impregnating another 15 year old girl after having sex with her several times at his home and while in Davenport for church choir practice in 2020. Sallis is also awaiting sentencing for sexually abusing a 12 year old girl in 2021 and for getting into a scuffle with an officer at the jail. He is expected to take a plea deal in that case, with the sentence to run concurrently with his current 15 year sentence.
