An Oelwein man has been arrested for allegedly attacking two people with a samurai sword on Friday. The Oelwein Police Department and Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded after an officer noticed a vehicle driving erratically. Once the vehicle pulled over, two victims suffering from stab wounds were found inside. They were taken to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown at this time. An investigation led law enforcement to a home on 3rd Street NW. There they found 42 year old Nicholas Spratt. He has been charged with two counts of Assault, Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, and Child Endangerment. Additional charges are pending. It is unclear what the victim’s relationship to Spratt may be and why he attacked them with a samurai sword.
