The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public about a scam, according to KWWL. Sheriff Tony Thompson says they have received several calls from people indicating that somebody who says they are a deputy with the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office has called them and claimed there is a warrant out for their arrest, but that it can be taken care of through monetary means. Thompson says the sheriff’s office will never offer you a monetary solution to a warrant until you have been properly booked into the county jail. He says if you want to know whether or not you have a warrant you can stop by the sheriff’s office and find out. Anybody who receives this type of call is asked to contact the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office or the Dispatch Center.
