The Cedar Falls School District has joined a resolution demanding more funding from the state, according to KCRG. The resolution created by Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement asks for a 5% increase in state funding, rather than the typical 2%. It also calls for the state to phase out Education Savings Accounts. ESA’s use public money to fund private school tuition for any student in the state. Many public schools say the dropping enrollment is creating a financial strain and preventing them from properly supporting their students. Cedar Falls joins Cedar Rapids, Keokuk, Decorah, Albia, Belmond-Klemme, and South Tama in signing the resolution.
