The search for a 16 year old boy from La Porte City continues. Jake Wilson, who is autistic and has a mild intellectual disorder, went for a walk on Saturday night to Wolf Creek but never returned. Tuesday, volunteers were bused to rural timbered areas for searches, and ATVs and UTVs combed open fields in the area. Some 97 all-terrain vehicles in all were used. Also on the scene Tuesday were scent-based tracking dogs, which operate differently than dogs used earlier that track ground disturbance. Horseback groups also aided the search, and a team in waders walked in the creek at Highway 218.
The search covers about a 9-mile radius, or about 255 square miles.
At this point no real, legitimate clues have been turned up. A crime has not yet been ruled out but its not clear that one took place. He was last seen wearing a brown zip up hoodie, dark sweatpants, and cowboy boots. Many of the pictures of Jake circulating show him with glasses on, he was not wearing those when he went missing. Farmers and the like in the area are still being asked to check their outbuildings and barns as kids who go missing often are found in structures. If you have any information you are asked to contact the Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office.
