An Arizona man caught with approximately two and a half pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Floyd County on New Years Eve of 2022 has been sentenced to more than 10 years in prison, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 43 year old John Qualls of Tucson, Arizona was caught by a Floyd County Sheriff’s Deputy going 88mph in a 65mph zone around 3am on December 31st, 2022. He handed the deputy a pouch containing his license, insurance, and registration. The deputy also noticed marijuana residue and noted a strong smell of marijuana on the documents. A further search of the vehicle found two and a half pounds of meth. Once Qualls is released from prison he will also have to serve five years of supervised release.
