Sentencing for Man Who Stabbed Tripoli Man

A 34-year-old man is scheduled to be sentenced next month for stabbing a Tripoli man outside a Waterloo apartment building.

A judge found Jeron Garrison guilty after a nonjury trial in March. Garrison’s sentencing on the one count of willful injury is set for May 23.

Authorities say Garrison argued with 34-year-old Jacob Duhrkopf on Dec. 10 because Duhrkopf owed money to an acquaintance of Garrison. Police say Garrison got in Duhrkopf’s vehicle and refused to leave, and when Duhrkopf tried to remove him, Garrison stabbed him.

Garrison’s attorney argued that if Garrison were responsible for the stabbing, it was self-defense.
