A sex offender was taken into custody after allegedly fighting with police, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. On Tuesday police in Waterloo approached 36 year old Jeffery Wilson of Oelwein, formerly of Waterloo and Cedar Falls, about an outstanding warrant out of Hamilton County. Wilson then ran from police, crossing the street before being tackled to the ground. Police allege he then began to dig at his waistband. Police then found a pistol in his pants pocket. Wilson is barred from handling firearms due to a felony drug conviction in 2007 and a 2016 conviction for violating sex offender registration requirements. He has been charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Interference While Armed. His bond has been set at $10,000.
