A sex offender who escaped from the Waterloo Residential Correctional Center in November has been taken back into custody, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 38 year old James Morrison failed to return to the facility after work on November 2nd. On Wednesday he was captured and charged with Violation of the Sex Offender Registry and Voluntary Absence. His bond was set at $32,000. He was required to register as a sex offender after being convicted of third degree Sexual Abuse in 2010 after an incident with a teenage girl when he was 26. He has previous convictions for Failure to Register in 2016 and 2019.
