A Waterloo sex offender who allegedly cut off the GPS monitor that he was ordered to wear has been recaptured, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 38 year old Demetry Lewis was originally arrested in June of 2025 after knocking over a lamp while masturbating in a waiting room at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail and a year of probation, during which he was to wear the GPS monitor. Authorities say he cut off the ankle bracelet on February 6th and moved. On Friday he was taken back into custody and charged with Violation of the Sex Offender Registry and Failure to Appear.
