Shell Rock & CF Expecting Flooding

The Shell Rock River at Shell Rock is expected to be in flood stage Wednesday. Flood stage at Shell Rock is 12 feet. The river is expected to crest around 1:00 a.m. on Friday at 13.6 feet. At that point water affects South Prairie Street, water seeps into several basements close to the river, part of South Lake Street is closed, and East Washington Street is closed.

The Cedar River in Cedar Falls is also expected to enter flood stage. Flood Stage there is 89 feet. The river is expected to crest on Saturday at 1:00 a.m. at 91.9 feet. At that point water affects George Wyth State Park, portions of Cottage Row Road are affected, Tourist Park and Island Park are affected, and Riverside Drive south of Beech Street and portions of Lake Street are affected. Citizens are encouraged to prepare accordingly and if they encounter flooded streets, to turn around, don’t drown.
