The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office has implemented new preparations and protocols to deal with the coronavirus pandemic, according to KWWL. Sheriff Tony Thompson says that the jail started deep cleaning, antimicrobial and disinfection protocols to build a stronger foundation and baseline for defenses against the virus within the inmate population. He says additional medical screenings and evaluations are taking place. They also have plans in place to isolate incoming arrestees. Staff members also have additional protective equipment and protective protocols available. Thompson also said discontinuation of jail visitation, jail programming, reductions in office hours and curtailing of other face to face interactions could be put in place at a later date.
