Silent Vigil in Overman Park

A silent vigil was held in Overman Park in Cedar Falls over the weekend to show solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, according to KWWL. Mayor Rob Green called for a visible stand against racial injustice last week and invited people to join him at the vigil. Those who attended stood silent for eight minutes and 46 seconds, the amount of time a Minneapolis Police Officer knelt on George Floyd’s neck. Members of the community were then invited to talk about their experience with racism among other topics. Attendees were asked to follow social distancing guidelines at the park.
