The son of former Waterloo Mayor Quentin Hart has been sentenced after stealing more than $10,000 from a man in Marion, according to KCRG. In May 18 year old Quenden Hart took a plea deal that saw him plead guilty to first degree Theft and Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card. He was facing up to 12 years in prison but the judge in the case has decided Hart will not do any prison time at all, instead he will be on supervised probation for three years. He will also have to pay a fine of more than $2,000. Hart pretended to be a credit union inspector investigating fraud in December when he called the Marion man. Hart told the man to place his debit card in his mailbox as part of the investigation. Hart took the card out of the mailbox and used it to withdraw money out of the man’s account. He then called the man again the next day and told him to withdraw a further $10,000 in cash and Hart would come over to photograph the money. When Hart arrived at the man’s home, he grabbed the bag of cash and drove off, dragging the victim behind the car. Hart was a freshman at Wartburg majoring in Business Administration at the time. His dorm was searched as part of the case.
