Both Basketball Teams Get Wins

Tuesday night in college basketball Wartburg got a pair of wins. The 2nd ranked Wartburg women crushed Edgewood 74-35. The Knights men outscored Grinnell 123-111 as Marshun Williams scored a career-high 37 points and pulled down a career-high 13 rebounds to lead the way.

Walker Gets National Recognition

Waverly native and Wartburg defensive lineman Jake Walker was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week. Walker earned the national recognition following Saturday’s game where the defensive end recorded a career high 12 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 2 QB hurries and a fumble recovery.

Girls Start Season

The Waverly-Shell Rock girls wrestling team begins its season tonight at the Ankeny Quad. The Go-Hawks will take on Des Moines Hoover at 6:30 followed by a battle with Ankeny at 7:30.

#11 Knights to Host #7 UW-Platteville in Playoffs

Sunday the Wartburg football team discovered its draw in the NCAA Playoffs. Wrestling & Basketball are Victorious

Wednesday night Wartburg wrestling won a double dual. The 18th ranked women smashed Cornell 43-3 and the 2nd ranked men crushed Simpson 50-0. Wednesday night in women’s basketball 2nd ranked Wartburg beat Knox College 80-64 as Lauren Woeste had a career high 23 points and 16 rebounds.
