The Iowa State Fair has announced their opening night and closing night Grandstand musical acts, and one of them has a tie to Waverly. A tradition is being started of closing out the Fair with a Christian act, and this year that act is Josiah Queen. Queen’s wife, Trinity, is from Waverly. The two reportedly met as teenagers at Life Church in Waverly where Trinity’s mom and dad, Nicole and Matt Miller, are pastors. Queen will be joined at the State Fair by Ben Fuller on August 23rd. Tickets to that concert go on sale tomorrow morning at 10. The State Fair also announced the act that will open the Grandstand series. Country star Hardy will perform on August 13th. He will be joined by special guest McCoy Moore. Tickets for that concert will also go on sale at 10 tomorrow morning.
