State Report Card for Area Schools

The Iowa Department of Education has released their Iowa School Performance Profiles with new ratings and designations. Some of the interesting statewide stats show that the chronic absenteeism rate, defined as the percent of students who were present for less than 90% of days enrolled, was at 21% and the graduation rate came in at 87%.

As far as the area high schools go Waverly Shell Rock High School received an Acceptable rating with a score of 69% with the average score across the state being a 61%. Clarksville High School got a Commendable rating with score of 62%. Janesville High School did very well. They were given a rating of High Performing and received a score of 75%. Dunkerton High School got a rating of Commendable with a score of 62%. Denver High School, like Janesville, performed well, receiving a rating of High Performing with a score of 73%. Wapsie Valley High School came in below average with a rating of Acceptable but a score of just 58%. Tripoli High School was given a Commendable rating with a score of 64%. Sumner Fredericksburg got an Acceptable rating with a score of 60%, just below the average score statewide.
