One person has been taken to the hospital following a crash with an Iowa State Patrol squad car. The trooper was blocking part of a lane on southbound Highway 218 over Fletcher Avenue for a pavement painting crew on Wednesday morning when a southbound motorist collided with the squad car’s rear corner, according to the Iowa State Patrol. Paramedics with Waterloo Fire Rescue transported the motorist to a local hospital. The trooper, who was seated inside the squad car, didn’t appear injured, but she was taken to a hospital as a precaution. The painting crew was making markers used for speeding enforcement by Iowa State Patrol aircraft, troopers said.
