The Overman Park Sturgis Falls events have been placed on hold, according to KWWL. Jay Stoddard says that money and volunteers are the main issues. He says that nine members did not renew their terms at the end of their fiscal year on October 1st. Along with that a thunderstorm during Saturday of this year’s Sturgis Falls celebration stymied revenue from the carnival, food concessions, and beer by 50%. In order for the Overman Park events, the Kidsway, and parade to continue they need additional sponsorship money. Stoddard also says that because the city does not require competing events to help pay for the family and children’s events, they believe the city should be the main sponsor for those events.
