The Sumner Chief of Police was arrested for second offense OWI last weekend in Hardin County, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 41 year old Chad Koch was pulled over after almost entering a ditch and nearly hitting another vehicle on Highway 20. He also later ran a stop sign. Hardin County Sheriff’s Deputies pulled over a grey Chrysler SUV driven by Koch around 10:40 p.m. Koch failed a field sobriety test and his blood alcohol content level was measured at .09%. Koch, who has been with the Sumner Police force since October, received a deferred judgment for OWI in Polk County on January 1, 2015. On that occasion his blood alcohol content was measured at .172%. It is unclear what punishment Koch will face from the Sumner Police.
