Sumner Hit By Flash Flooding

The City of Sumner continues to recover after flooding over the weekend. Bremer County Emergency Management Director Kip Ladage says that Sumner Municipal Light and Power employees and contractors are working to restore emergency generated electrical power for the city.

A “Boil Water Order” remains in effect until further notice.

Damage assessment will continue today in Sumner. Residents will be asked a brief series of questions regarding damages from the flash flooding. It is important that this assessment is conducted for reporting to Iowa Homeland Security for POSSIBLE disaster assistance.

Clean-up kits and bottled water are available at the Recycling Center.

Meals/water are being provided by Salvation Army at the Community Memorial Hospital parking lot.

The Red Cross emergency evacuation shelter remains open at the Chapel at Hillcrest Home.
