Sumner Police took a wanted criminal into custody Wednesday after a short chase. An officer was traveling down 1st Street when they noticed a man in a black hoodie that they identified as Rusty Surovik, who had an active warrant for his arrest for Contempt: Violation of a No Contact Order. As the officer approached, Surovik ran into an apartment. When the officer got into the apartment he found that Surovik had run out the back door. The officer left but came back to the apartment 30 minutes later. Through a window he saw Surovik. Surovik initially refused to surrender until threatened with a taser. Surovik was taken to the Bremer County Jail without further incident.
