A Sumner woman is facing jail time after hiding money while filing for bankruptcy, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 58 year old Debra Leisinger filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in December of 2022 however investigators say she failed to mention a nearly $148,000 check she received after a relative passed away. She also had moved $9,000 to other relatives, which she also did not disclose. Leisinger has pleaded guilty to Bankruptcy Concealment. She faces up to five years in prison. She will be sentenced at a later date and remains free until then.
