A woman accused of causing a crash in Bremer County has pleaded not guilty, according to KIMT. 31 year old Melissa Nickerson of Sumner has been charged with serious injury by vehicle. She is alleged to have been carrying on a Facebook Messenger conversation on September 17th when she struck a vehicle driven by Jeffrey Bloom from behind. The crash left Bloom paralyzed from the chest down. Nickerson’s trial is scheduled to begin on April 2nd.
