Teen Arrested in Court Room

A Waterloo teen was detained after he yelled at and approached a prosecutor in his mother’s trial, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 31 year old Brittany Martin was on trial for striking her son with her SUV in August. She was found guilty of willful injury causing bodily injury and leaving the scene. That is when the son crossed the railing and began yelling at the prosecutor. Deputies were able to intercept the teen before he reached her. Judge George Stigler has asked the County Attorney’s Office to consider filing charges against the teen. Jurors were escorted to their vehicles by deputies to ensure they were not harassed. Martin, who was charged as a habitual offender, will be sentenced at a later date when she will face up to 15 years in prison.
