Teen Given Deferred Judgment After Violent Crime

A Waterloo teen who was part of a group of teens that robbed two other teens before stuffing them into the trunk of a car has been given a deferred judgment, according to the Waterloo Cedar Falls Courier. 18 year old Jacquis Smith-Stalling was granted a deferred judgment for two counts each of second degree robbery and third degree kidnapping. He was a part of a group of several teens who punched and kicked the two victims before taking their cell phones and wallets, stuffing them into the trunk of their own car, then driving around with them still inside the trunk. The victims were eventually let out on a gravel road where they flagged down a passerby. Smith-Stalling was given the deferred judgment, which means the felonies will come off his record if he completes probation, because while under supervision he obtained his high school diploma and maintained full time employment.
