A teenage prisoner is back in custody after overpowering an officer and stealing their vehicle, according to KIMT. A 17 year old male, who had been arrested for driving a vehicle without the owner’s consent, was being transferred from the Cerro Gordo County Jail to the Central Iowa Detention Center in Eldora. During the transportation the 17 year old complained of a medical problem. The officer pulled to the side of the road to help the teen. The teen then allegedly assaulted and overpowered the officer, left them on the side of the road, and drove off in the vehicle. The officer was taken to MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He was treated and released. The vehicle was spotted in Polk County. When law enforcement attempted to pull the vehicle over, the 17 year old took off, leading them on a chase. The teen eventually crashed the stolen vehicle and was taken into custody. He is facing several charges and is currently being held in the Polk County Jail.
