On February 20 a threat against Waverly Shell Rock High School was etched into a male bathroom stall for Thursday, March 9th. Parents were notified via email about the threats.
Waverly Chief of Police Richard Pursell expounds on what steps are being taken to insure the safety of the students today.
Chief Pursell says the investigation is still ongoing and charges could still be filed against the author of the threat.
On Wednesday, WSR parents received another email from Superintendent Ed Klamfoth citing another message found in a high school restroom that says “Kill them all” and has 3/13 and 3/14 posted as dates. The Waverly Police were brought in right away and are investigating this second incident, which Klamfoth says is likely a copycat. Klamfoth assured parents that the school district takes every threat seriously. There is video surveillance of who went in and out of the room, and police are interviewing students who were seen doing so. Klamfoth stated in the email that “One thing we do know is that it is not the same person who posted the previous threat.”
Anyone with information on this second incident is asked to contact school officials or the Waverly Police Department immediately.
