The Charles City Police Department has announced that what they call “traffic enforcement cameras”, also known as speed cameras, are now active in their town. The cameras will issue warnings for 30 days before they start issuing tickets. Warnings and tickets will be triggered by vehicles traveling at speeds 10mph or more over the posted speed limit. The cameras located on South Grand Avenue by 11th Street, Highway 14 by South Iowa Street, Highway 18 by L Street and Gilbert Street as you leave town.
Speed cameras have been implemented or are being discussed in many towns and cities throughout Iowa, including Waverly, amid tax cuts from the Iowa Legislature.
